In 1997 I had an idea for a candy bowl that would have a bit of a kick to
it. Not only did I want to scare the precious little trick-or-treators
on the way up to my front
door, but I felt that just
because they were brave
enough to make it all the way
to the candy didn't mean they
were all done being
victimized. The big candy
cauldron I would assemble
would look like a paradise of
tons of candy just waiting
for them to help themselves
to, but when their trusting
little hand would enter the
bowl, a real live person's
warm hand would grab theirs
before they could get any of
the delectable delights inside. Here's
how I did it.
Death
Lord
UPDATE OCT 2002; The Candy Cauldron has been copied and was spotted last
night in Spencer Gifts called the "Third Hand". It is now being sold
nationally by Gemmy Products! Their version uses a sock glove inside to keep the
arm opening sealed tightly, but my original version gives the TOT the added
experience of feeling a warm, live hand grabbing theirs which would be lost if
using a sock over your hand. Cool, huh?
